Hey guys, maybe you can help me...
I'm trying a lot of pickups combinations in my HSS strat, so I can choose the "final" ones and plan the wiring
The Bridge Humbucker is an old 80s JBJ that sounds awesome, but the weird thing is that when I put it in parallel, doesn't sound like what you'd expect... I have a new JB in other 1 pickup /1 volume guitar, that in parallel sounds pretty different.
The old one:
In Parallel has just a bit less output, and sounds darker. It also has a kind of midrange honky thing going on
The new one:
As expected, has less output in parallel and sounds much more trebly and "glassy"
Dunno if it's just the pickup sounding different from new ones, the degaussed magnet, or something else....
In addition, when I split it, North bobbin sounds awesome, supper clear stratty single coil tone with a lot of body, but South bobbin sounds awful (honky, low output thin)
Your thoughts are much appreciated!
