old marshall head

Re: old marshall head

Absolutely, pics or serial is needed to get the discussion going... otherwise there will just be more guessing and people gonna be angry at each other and such bad things.

Interesting thread for sure and I really really wanna know what you've gotten your hands on. Waiting on the pics! :D

Re: old marshall head

the guy who invented fire you asked me to get you were it said some of the first jtm45 marshalls had no serials.i got this from dr tube guitar amp schematics.

The first JTM45 amps had no model number printed on them. Later (probably in 1963) aluminium panels were used having JTM 45 and MK II printed on them (implying the first serie of amps were the MK I's)

thanks peter

Without wanting to cause further argument, serial numbers and model numbers are two different things:33:

Simon....Rocker.....please go over to Peter's place & see what he has !!! :D

Peter....what did the guy you got the amp from say it was?

I sure hope he didn't sell you a friggin ham radio or something :smack:

Re: old marshall head

the person i bought the amp from had a lot of old equipment for sale.it looks like this was lying in a shed for years.inside the amp there was dead spiders cobwebs leaves and dirt.maybe they were there when he moved in.alought he said he hadnt played for a long time.

Re: old marshall head

The suspense is killing me.

This is much better than some of the TV series I've watched recently.

Can't help...sorry. Just reading.

Puckboy: I never thought of plugging into a ham radio....it might sound better than some of the amps I've owned. Does that mean that my playing would be transmitted worldwide ???....NOT GOOD ....lol

Peter......Good luck on sorting this out.

PLEASE try and get a pic on here soon.

Re: old marshall head

colma do you thing your post brightened up this thread.the guy who invented fire.i seen on voodoo amps where some older amps had stickers on the chassis which told you when the amp was made.my amp has a sticker.but it is beside the valves and has mone a burnt colour and some bits torn off.you can see a couple of numbers.there are a few things stamped on the sides of the chassis in green.they are smeared i thought they were to do with the sheets of aluminium before they were cut and formed.i go a magnifing glass and small torch and was able to make out 2L59 AND 7008.i dont know if that means a superlead 59 somebody has said that already

Re: old marshall head

why is there so many wankers on this forum

peter

There have been a significant number of intelligent, experienced, polite and well-informed persons on here that are more than willing to help you out.

They've gone to great lengths to try and assist you. They've been polite. They've given direction. They've even dealt with your terrible posting style, god-awful command of the English language and sheer ignorance of amps and tubes.

They're doing you a favor trying to help you out. We didn't start this thread, you did. And whether you figure out what amp it is none of us are likely to have any trouble sleeping at night.

I would suggest if you're interested in retaining any sort of credibility as a member of this forum that you not post again until you can take some pictures or locate a serial number.

The bottom line is that until you get a camera and take some pictures or find the numbers in the specific location given then you're nothing more than a sad little troll treading upon the good nature of those on here.
