Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

cymbal noise is clinically perfect, seeing as i used a drum machine, lol

but yeah, I forgot to edit out the buzzing/finger noise during the rests. I'm planning on having great big menacing growls over those silent parts though. I can always edit it later.

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

Kool, I dig it...If you add vocals, don't do the cookie monster thing please!!! It'd be so much kooler with some sort of actual singing. Its pretty awesome though, I dig it. I'd say Bring the second guitar parts (that come in at 2:30) up a little higher in the mix though.

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

Needs intelligible death metal vocals... Death, Master, etc.

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

I dig. nice chug there. reminds me of my slayer collectionz. the recabinet sounds realistic for demo recording.

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

grumpy: okey dokey, I'll fix the rests. Still gotta figure out some lyrical ideas and write some retarded lyrics, but i'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind!

LOL!!!!!!

the whole point of old school death metal is gruff cookie monster vocals! With this blatant Entombed/Dismember/Bolt Thrower/Bloodbath worship, to not do cookie monster vocals would be complete sacrilege!

definitely will put the leads up a bit in the mix though. I thought they sounded kinda inaudible as well, after I played it on a few other stereos. thanks for the feedback!

Dominus: no. lol. pure old school swedish death metal worship here. it's gonna be hoarse, gruff, painful, evil, and totaly friggin awesome :D :D :D

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

Don't understand why you don't just get a decent interface, record some good DI tracks, then re-amp that and use impulses, because the Zoom sounds terrible to be honest

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

lol, lack of $$$.

fortunately, though, I'll be starting my new job soon, and once i start getting some more cash flow, I will be working on my list of things to get:

new guitar
new amp
new cab
new pickups
some pedals
a good recording interface

Re: Old School Death Metal (Cab Sims again!)

might be fun to drop a mic in front of the practice amp and do 2 more mic'ed guits with some biting higher frequencies and work those into the mix.

not that I think the zoom is terrible, but it might be worth mixing things up using what you have and toy around with some free amp simz out there, either as a substitute, or in conjunction with the zoom. there's some pretty nice freebies out there!

most important though - if you got the sound you were going for, it's amazing, ya know?
