OMG... Crate actually makes one very kick*ss amp!!!

Re: OMG... Crate actually makes one very kick*ss amp!!!

there are quite a few pros using the V series amps, nice thing, you can buy one just about anywhere and they all pretty much sound the same. I think long term having tubes mounted on PC boards will cause problems (cracking boards and open traces), but for the price they're a hard act to beat. I've heard several local players using them and they sound great. If they would just get the tubes off the boards and charge a hundred bucks more they would eliminate issues with heat over time.

I have no idea how good the component construction really is but it feels sturdy at least, sounds nice and looks sweet, and its cheap, what more can you ask for.

in fact, here's an ebay of the model head I owned... lol cracks me up everytime I think about it

Hey, I too owned a Peavey as my first amp. It was truely nasty, and if you even looked at the "Lead Channel", you would envoke the swarm-of-bees-with-no-bass...

And the clean or "Normal" channel can make even a wonderful guitar sound like a diddley bow...
