I grew up on Teles 1st. speaking of Kirchen - I think He is where i first got the Idea to switch positions on the Vol + Tone on Teles ( if it's not a Super $ collector guitar , I say put the S#!t wherever it makes u a Better Guitarist

That is the ONLY thing I don't like about Strats. Must be the way I learned to play guitar. Always or always ready to palm mute. I'm always picking/strumming over the bridge pickup, and my pinky and ring finger always anchor right near the knob, always hitting it, constantly turning it down.

I'm always resting my hand on bridge or keeping it very close, using my palm to softly cutoff notes. With the standard placement of volume in strat, it's impossible to do that with b and high e strings.

There's another ergonomic mishap with the neck joint. Contoured heel is should be standard in every strat.

I always get that close knob out of there if it's jammed in there tight,,,,,,even if it means swapping and having no tone control.
I'm not sure I'd want no volume though unless there was a killswitch. Only one of my amps has mute.
Could always use a spare pedal in the chain as a mute by engaging it with it's level on zero.

I prefer volume pedal almost always over knob. Cleaning the gain for a longer period is about the only time I use guitars volume.

Same here, along with many (not all) brand's volume placements.
Both my guitars with middles (HSH) have been modded (degraded lol) to HH w/3-ways.
I just leave the middles in as fillers of course, but lower them waaay down, as far as they'll go is usually more than enough.

I dont even build Strat types with middles unless someone wants one

( Typically HB bridge / S or HB Neck
