One of Jerry's Kids
Years ago I played a 620 and fell in love with it. I never plugged it in it was just the feel of the ax. At the time the price was way out of my reach. Now I am GASing for one again. My only hesitation is now I know single-coil pickups generally don't vibe with me. However, these are different than Strat singles and there are other singles I like, P90s for example.
There is one place around here around 15 miles away that is a Rickenbacker dealer. I went there yesterday and there was one 4001 on the wall and a few Rick knockoffs made by Dillon. The owner said there is a 3-month waiting list for any Rick. He has one 620 on the way but does not know when it will land or what color it is. He also let me know once a Rick arrives it doesn't last long in the shop.
I guess I will have to wait this out because there is no way I am spending $1600 on a guitar without hearing it. The upside is the guy is a Peavy dealer so if I get my hands on the guitar I can play it through a Classic 20 which is the same amp I have at home.
