Onboard PU booster - ever tried these things ?

Re: Onboard PU booster - ever tried these things ?

I have the AB in Phoenix and the PA2 in my Wrath, and they both work as advertised.... I find the bass gets a bit looser when engaged, but not massively so.

^^ I disagree... both of mine are dead quiet. They do however also audibly amplify any RFI or other noise that the pickup is already receiving, esp when used flat out.

But any other clean boost will do that as well, they all amplify the noise as well as the signal ;)

MMmmmmm, looser bass you say - might have to try it then, as i LOVE a looser (((low end)))

Which one do you recommend ?

^^ they sound identical, it depends on whether you want the gain level adjustable via pot on teh guitar´s face or whether you want a fixed amount of boost (which you can dial in using the trim pot on teh board) and a simple minitoggle on /off ;)

THe tonal effect when disengaged is effectively zero in both cases.
