one cab to rule them all

i know speaker mixing has been discussed very often, but i want
to know your opinion about my project;

goal is to build a unique cab with the outer dimensions of a 412.
nice overall sound for clean clean, fender clean, blues, bluesrock
and indy rock would be what i want.
nice drop-tuning capability would be a point. this is why i want
to mix 215 + either 210or212 in one cab :yes11:

i found out, that the eminence legend 151 has the low end power
and the distorted britpop/indyrock raunch sound, which i like.
i just miss some definition, top end in general and lower mid-bite
i'd need for bluesrock.
thinking of chassis, which add this details in same power- and
efficiency range and are ok for a semi-open cab would be
12" variant the eminence GB12
10" variant the ragin cajun

what do you think of this experiment? which speaker would
you choose? other chassis opinions welcome.
any major bug in that plan?

of course 10s in same axis as 15s would be better, it's a matter of space

in general i agree with you, but it's not a point for me.
either i mic a combo and use the pa, or i use a mighty cab.

what i don't like on that cab is the weird inner construction, due to the
10"s need an own enclosure. i think anyway the 10"s would be better closed
and the 15"s should be vented.

is there a forum, which is cab oriented?

Randall makes a 1x15+2x12 cabinet you might want to look into.

Otherwise, I don't think 2 15's and 2 12's will fit in the same cabinet.

right, 12s are a little big to mix and anyway don't do me a top end
improvement.
i already calced around a went through the eminence soundclips.
i have 2 special 15s and 2 10s in my mind.

My main bass cab for years was an SWR Triad- a 15+10+horn. Granted, it's a bass cab, but it's ported in the front- bottom vent port- and the 10 is ported to the rear.

The thing weighs around 87 pounds. Significantly lighter than my 92 pound 4x10 and my 115 lb 2x15.

Just sayin'

Not that I know if he'd help you at all, but you could try talking to the guys at Avatar cabs...
