One humbucker in series one in parallel

I was wondering if its possible to wire the bridge pickup in series and the neck pickup in parallel, or should it be both in parallel/series?

There is no “should.”

Absolutely it is possible, and if it’s the sound you like then there’s no reason to NOT do it.

Yup. Exactly that way. You could also wire up a series/parallel switch (mini toggle or push-pull) for the neck pickup so you could have it either way whenever you want or to help you decide if you like it without sacrificing anything.

Re: One humbucker in series one in parallel

If a pickup sounds best in parallel, to me that means I need a better pickup to begin with.

Re: One humbucker in series one in parallel

Some pickups like the Duckbucker are designed to be wired in parallel. Some hot pickups make a perfect match to themselves by putting the neck in parallel. I had a guitar with a Custom Custom in both the neck and bridge, but the neck was in parallel. It was a pretty cool set up, at least to tell people about. They couldn't believe I was getting hum free single coil tones from a high output neck humbucker.

I am sure some people found out the pickups they have sound best that way. Everyone has their own path, man.

I bet the middle sounded very clear, potentially almost acoustic.

I wouldn't go so far as to say acoustic, but it did have a very clear and open tone to it. If you attempt to go this route it'd probably be best to do it in a 24 fretter, as I did. Or swap an A3 in the neck.
