Sounds like what you need. All the things I see from you, I saw you were alot like me, always thinking I needed higher output for more versility, when, from the looks of it, neither of us are particularly metal tastic.

What amp do you have, and hows the Explorer look/wood its made out of?

Re: One more for the PG club

The PG neck IMO is Duncans best neck bucker but, the bridge is a love it or hate it IMO. Hopefully you will love it.

Re: One more for the PG club

Timmy, i'm playing through an old marshall vs100 at home, which is far from being a good amp.. but in reharsals I use a JCM 800 from the studio. I'm still saving some money to get a better amp..here in Brazil they are too expensive, and the used ones that I found were too battered and f***ed up.
My Explorer is an 76' reissue, you can check at my profile's picture!
As you said we've got similar taste , i'm trying to keep away from high output humbuckers.. I played a lot of metal in the past.. but now i'm totally out of heavy stuff... just a good overdrive or a little distortion for the solos.

Re: One more for the PG club

I love the PG set in my '96 Les Paul Standard. Perfectly balanced pups for all occasions IMO. :fing2:

Re: One more for the PG club

Let's hear it for a PG set!!!!!! We all pretty much love the neck. But the bridge is much maligned...Don't know why? While prefer the CC, I do have a PG set guitar on the list!

And any Marshall since 1985 or so has had more gain than anyone really needs....go for the mid output pup - way better tone in that situation. MAke that amp work!

Re: One more for the PG club

The PG set rocks in any situation. I would not hesitate to take my PG loaded LP to any kind of gig, be it jazz, country, blues, rock, or metal.

Re: One more for the PG club

I have the PG bridge installed in my Les Paul and love it, I am waiting for the PGn to come in so I will soon have the full PG set in my guitar! these definitely Rock big time!
