one piece bodies are better right? Or is there no real audible diff.?Thinking of building a custom mahogany tele from warmoth next year and want to know if its worth the 40 bucks to get a 1 piece.

personal preference. I cant tell audible difference, but there is a big appearence difference. Depends on if you plan on doing a transparent finish or not.

Re: One piece body or multiple pieces?

I've got a few of both kinds. My LP Custom, Washburn Falcon & V are all multiple piece bodies. They all sound good. My SGs, Teles & Strats are 1 piece. Michael Tobias' (of Tobias Basses fame) old theory was that a single piece of wood focuses sound better, whereas laminates enhance harmonics. I don't think I adhere to the theory. I seem to be able to get more overtones from the Fenders & SG's, while the Gibsons & Washburn seem to be very dominant note heavy. It may have something (and I suspect that it does) to do with the amount of gain that I've got on each instrument, but who knows?
