One spot left for one pedal

Re: One spot left for one pedal

I guess I don't get the objection to the wah. True, it is one pedal that MANY amateur players over-use. But it is great as a solo tone boost...cocked wah tones. And I can't imagine NOT having one in any kind of funk or fusion band, especially one with a horn section.

Terry Kath of Chicago was a FIERCE wah user. Another favorite is Phil Upchurch (a great player in his own right) adding just the perfect amount of funk in George Benson's band. And Cream's "White Room" without Clapton's wah driving it is just another song, and not one of the great Rock Anthems of its generation. Stephen Stills is another great wah player. And then there was Jimi.

Of all the pedals your feet, wah is the one pedal that most espresses your creativity and personality. Used discreetly and tastefully, it's a valuable color tool on any guitarist's tone palette.
