Well the beast finally arrived today guys!!! And boy, when paired with the gt6 does this thing have tone to kill all tone! Its louder and crunchier than anything ive played in my life! The seller chucked in a random van halen book too which was really cool! Tone clips to follow soon (need to set the jumpers on the sound card for high volume recording), but in the mean time, here are a few pics of it and a few random ones i shot on my walk around the house for your amusement lol. enjoy!

It's funny how times change

I remember when 5150's were considered the cheap beater stuff that you could get for the price of dirt. Literally! I passed up 2 different 5150 half stacks that went for $400 & $600 respectively.

The other cheap amp in LA was the JCM800 - which used to be soooo cheap, just a notch above the 5150. Now everyone begs for these and pays a good if not fair price for them.

Congrats. Try and use your ear plugs kiddo!

I only have one preamp. :(. I have a crappy Behringer mixer I could try it with, but meh...

Building a new recording PC this summer though.

Most likely... was debating between that or Presonus Firepod, but the E-Mu has way more expandability, and I'll be able to use it sooner.

3Ghz dual core with 2 gigs of RAM (with 4 SODIMM's, I might go to 4 eventually) is making my mouth water.

I saw that first picture and thought, "wow, he's got a cardboard cab now." :smack:

Glad you like the amp. I played one last year and almost bought it. They wanted too much, though, IMO.

Re: ooo, nice big card board box arrived!!! GAS

Match that baby up with a Peavey cabinet & you'll really blow the doors off. I find the Marshall cabs are more mid-range oriented, whereas the Peavey ones have a huge bottom end & good highs. Right now I'm running the opposite setup as you: Marshall head with a Peavey cabinet. Sounds huge.

Damnit I was just talking to my friend about how bad I want a 5150 and I just happened to start reading this at the same time...

/cry If only money grew on trees lol.

Re: ooo, nice big card board box arrived!!! GAS

very cool getting a 5150.... the photos remind me of my set up as my main amp is a 5150 and a small Marshall 1x12 cab.... the 1912 cab.... i want the larger cab like yours oneday as it hast he 2x12's and fits in the trunck of my Camry!

I grabbed a beat up JCM 800 head for $500 Canadian last year as most of them in better condition are over $1200 these days for teh 50 watter around Toronto....
