Because the previous one (Schaller) gave a horrible sitar muffled sounding effect on G, which killed all pantera-style natural harmonics. When (after a whole odyssey) I replaced this for a Gotoh, at first, I was really pleased that I could do all my favorite natural harmonics tricks, only to discover later that now open B sounded completely dead.
I was biased in favor of "superior Japanese metalurgy VS overated German metalurgy", but now I understand they are of equal (hit or miss) quality. I suppose the next Schaller or Gotoh will suffer in some other string, making me repeat the whole hack once again.

Newest version : metal to metal : aluminum foil with super glue
I think better than paper in the long run. Same tone as with paper. Slightly lower action height due to the reduced thickness of the aluminum foil vs paper.

Reverted back to paper. I think it gives the best tone and is applied with ease in comparison to the rest of solutions (aluminum, generic metal putty). Even measured sustain and is on par with the best sounding string. I noticed some rattles and buzzes, and I saw they were coming from the saddle. One has to pay attention not to underestimate some factors and not over-engineer other factors.
All in all, I am disappointed by both Schaller and Gotoh as long as locking nuts are concerned. 2/2 miss rate is not a good number.
