This is one of the songs that is gonna be on my space/physics metal album that I will eventually complete (hopefully not before my blues rock album lol)

Still gotta do some leads and record vocals too. The lyrics are about matter-antimatter collisions in a particle accelerator. :dance:



oh yeah, forgot to mention:
Used the Custom RCA3 in my Jolly Roger on this. Love that pickup. It's EQ'd so perfectly.
The cleans are the Little '59 though.

You could have posted "Guess what Scandinavian bands influenced this song" and I would have come up with Enslaved and Opeth immediately. You *nailed* Enslaved's tone and feel.

Although, if you really wanted to copy Opeth's tone and feel, you would have stretched out the clean part another 10 minutes or so. :D

i don't really. I didn't even want to copy Enslaved's tone and feel. Just sorta came out that way. They are both HUGE influences of mine.

I just wanted the guitars to be crisp and crunchy, while still leaning towards trebly black metal sorta tones. I'm too technical minded to bother just making it a wash of vicious strumming on two and a half chords though.

Sick! Reminds me of Voivod and Extol in parts... (maybe because I'm not into those other bands you mentioned) ....whatever ...sounds awesome dude!

nice! I get the voivod comparison. Been told that about some other songs i've written in the same vein - mostly due to the strange chord voicings. Extol though...haven't ever been compared to them, even though their first album is seriously one of the best metal albums ever imo.

Had to listen to that song and CTN's song next to each other. Seriously. Almost a perfect tone match. :D

Man, I think I'll be loading up some Enslaved after I finish my Borknagar kick. :firedevil

Love that song so much. when ISA first came out, I spend a solid 3 weeks listening to Neogenesis on practically infinite repeat. Never did get sick of it lol.

I think they used 5150s for that album.



On a side note, I think I'm gonna record those leads + vocals today. Maybe put some keyboards in if the mood strikes.

I'm listening to this a second time after realizing I had the volume on my headphones to far down. I would seriously buy this album, dude.

that bass part really makes it work for me. you're playing the bass on this too, right?

the clarity you get with all that gain is crazy, it makes your metal quite dark indeed. i find the diminished stuff intense, but as you know i am having issues in that area.
i think of it as a fine barleywine stout : ]

Yep, I played bass.

And the secret to the clarity is not a lot of gain! I had the gain on my amp set to produce a sorta heavy classic rock crunch. But double tracked, and with some overdrive on the bass as well, it yields what you hear in the clip. What issues are you talking about re: diminished stuff?
