Opinions on G&L Tribute S-500

I just got done playing one of these at the neighborhood music store and had them hold it for me. Good Strat & Tele tones and also seems to be made pretty well. Swamp Ash body with natural clear gloss finish. Any opinions? How well do they hold up? If anyone owns or has owned one, I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks...Joe

Don't know the particular model from personal experience (it's a straight-up SSS Strat, right?) but I've known enough Tributes -- mostly basses, but also a couple of ASATs -- to know that I trust the brand.

You're correct, 3 singles. Thanks, I appreciate the response.

They're not bad. Sorta like a Fender Am Std with a flatter neck radius, and beefy single coils. Even after having a few G&L's, I find I still like American Series or American Deluxes the best, as long as they have the plastic nut.
G&L's are great guitars, but I still grab for the Fenders, if I have both in front of me.

What's the price difference between a new Tribute and a used regular G&L around there?

Re: Opinions on G&L Tribute S-500

New tributes are about 475 to 575 for the premiums. I've seen used Legacys for 650-750 on the lower end.

I think they're a pretty good value-nice hardware & electronics, and I'm liking the flatter neck radius. Kinda limited on the finish options, though.

I shop for most of my prices on gear at gbase.com. Are there any other similar gear search engines that you guys are aware of?

Thanks,
Dave
