Opinions on Guitar Strings

Love Me Some Tele

New member
Hey All! I am new to the Forum and have just been checking a few things out. I am curious as to what types of strings you like to use for your electrics and accustics. I'm looking to try something new, and just wanted some opinions and personal preferences for both. Thanks!!

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

I use a hybrid of 28-48 Ernie bass strings and D'addario 11-18 treble strings, best combination of feel and tone imo.

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

Welcome to the Forum!

I use D'Addario 10-46 on my electrics.

D'Addario 50-105 on my basses.

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

I use the best electric guitar strings available.

GHS Progressive Dave Mustaine Signatures 10-52

Rock On ~ Kac

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

About once a year I do about an $80 order from webstrings.com.

I figured that buying them individually in a typical year I spend over $200. By doing it in bulk I save money and the strings are top-notch.

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

Hey man, what's up? I use Elixir Nanoweb 10-46 electric.

These strings last a long time! They're coated and have a soft feel- moving around is effortless, you'll take it for granted. The unwound strings have anti-rust plating which make them last as long as the uncoated wound strings.

For me, the tone of the strings are the best I've heard-- modern sounding and full. This is subjective to everyone's varying taste, but I thought I'd mention it. They stay in tune well too.

I like gauge 10-46 mainly for ease of use. On the 10 I get some tension but I can bend it sky high. And, on the 46 I get beef but I can bend it well all over the neck. Also, I can just pick my axe up and not fret about warmin' up :) .

See Ya. :)

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

I use DR pure blues and Hi Bean 9-46s and 10-50s depending on the guitar and setup. But I've got the urge to try some snake oils now.

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

Re: Opinions on Guitar Strings

11-58 for 7-string standard, swap 60 for drop-A
10-58 for 7-string drop-B
14-60 for drop-A, 13-58 for 27"
12-56 for drop-C, 13-58 for 24.75"

Yeah, that's quite a bit, lol.

I've used EB strings forever, I think GHS boomers are fine but I like EB's wound strings better...they work better with me, lol but GHS's plain strings are great. Never liked D'addario because those are the only strings that have ever broken on me :/

All my friends love Dean Markley's though, so I'm gonna order a whole bunch of sets of those.

I've used all the big names pretty much...and had settled on using Gibson Brite Wire and VR strings for the past 7 months or so.

Recently I started using the DR Pure Blues and I'm amazed how good they are. Def worth the extra cost.
