Opinion's on the Fender Esquire's?

Yeah, I was just browsing through ebay and a Fender Esquire popped up. So let's see, it's all Mahogany except for the fretboard....It has 22 Jumbo frets, string through body, 1 volume, a race stripe and a duncan invader in it.

This might just be the guitar I'm going to consider. I was thinking of a Epiphone Elitist(still am), an Orville LP, or this. All mahogany body and 1 pick up can be what I'm looking for. One thing though...from what I hear the invader isn't good on Mahogany bodies, so that will quickly be exchanged for either a Custom or a JB. Opinions?

ive played one of those...the one with the racing stripes at least. theyre not bad but theyre really not anything like a real esquire. the one i played was ok but it doesnt really excel at anything...its not a speedy one humbucker kramer style deal, not a vintage voiced guitar by any stretch of the imagination...and it doesnt have a tone control. id go for whatever feels best tho. by the way...a real esquire is just a tele with only a bridge pickup. same controls...just different wiring.

If a real Esquire is just a Tele with only a bridge pickup, then a Tele with only a humbucker in the bridge is an Esquire, i think.

Yeah dude I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on that same thing before i built the Warmoth. Definitely a stylish guitar without looking like you want to be Blink-182. Stick a JB in there and put it thru a cranked Marshall stack and you'll be in skatepunk heaven...and that's a good place to be.

you mean this???

i like mine alot, i ditched the muddy invader and stuck in a JB and it sounds great now! this guitar has an insanley thin neck (ibanez thin) and a very thin body and is the lightest guitar i have ever owned. very comfortable to play for long periods. after the JB went in and i gave it a real good setup and such it became a real good playing guitar and i'm happy i bought it. the only thing i'd like to change aside from the already changed JB would be the tuners for some better locking ones but these work fine for now however i'd rather have locking tuners any day (i'm lazy lol)! oh and i may change the hardware to regular chrome down the road just for the heck of it.

off topic but...i like Xssive because he has almost the same taste as me but apparently has enough money to buy all the stuff I want

The original Esquires even used Tele bodies with the same routing just with the bridge pup.
