Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

Re: Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

I like it and i hate it.
Really Robust ,Not a stweakable as The GT8 ,but has USB and and is easier to update ,customize or tweak.
The Amp modelling is better than the GT8 ,and allmost teh same level with VOX ,but the metal pack really kills allmost every other amp modelling stuff.
The modulation effects are way behind the GT8 IMO ,and the tone writing is sometimes PITA.
Better for recording than any other MEP ,and really good for direct to the mixer!
I think GT8 and the VOX are more authantic ins ound modelling ,but the LINE6 has more balls.
GT8 has the 4 cable ability wich gives you the possibility to use teh amp in and Fx loop and channel select options simultanously!
It's a hard competition!

Re: Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

I love mine. Not the biggest fan of the FX, but they work. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about the Metal Pack so I plan to buy it before long.

Don't buy it expecting to have a Marshall, Plexu, Black Face, Triple Rec, etc etc... exactly emulated. You can get in the ball park, but it's not exact. Not saying you expect that, but some people do and end up being disappointed.

I've used mine with the amp models, and as just a pedal board and used the stomp boxes, and FX with my old amp, and it works great both ways.

Whether you go with Line6, Vox, Boss do not be afraid to tweak it. I have to make myself break out and try things I never would have. Otherwise you will spend the $$ and use 3 amps and 2 FX pedals and never touch the other excellent goodies on board.

I don't care for it's sound direct into a PA, but I blame it on a bad EQ in the sound room.

Re: Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

I love mine, it covers virtually anything that comes to my mind (except for calssical that is). I really like the balls and attack Line 6 products have, and the PODXT Live doesn't dissapoint. I usually play it through a 412 cabinet with a PA or just through the PA mixer itself. Either way, you still get the amazing versatility, studio grade tone, and best of all, protable size! (a godsend is ya don't wanna split a back carrying over 40 amps and cabinets and effects throughout the country lol)

I think it's a MEAN MACHINE

at least 8 things on their SOUND AND FEEL like they should.

It is EASY to use, and that's important.

It sounds GREAT LIVE! I have used it thru Marshalls to gain them up.

Downside? Well it's never as rich and juicy as real tube amps - sorry, nope!
I have one because they work.

I have recorded with them and been happy, replaced the parts with real amps and felt it was richer without the need for outboard compressors, eq's etc.

Digital Technology has not recreated the beauty of air moving a mic, or my ear drum, for that matter. The POD is like fake breasts, silicon can look good, and sound good (digi), but the real thing is just better.

If you get one, download some of the model packs - you wil be happy you did.

Re: Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

How does it work for lower to mid gain stuff?

It works great if you're looking for a blues/rock or classic blues tone. Just don't use the presets that come with the product, they suck, badly :smack: . If you start off from scratch, and experiment a bit with the Fender/classic Marshall amps or so, you can get some great tones that seem to come out of nowhere. Also, this is optional, but if you tweak the tones with the 4-band EQ in the edit menu, you might find what you're looknig for. It's all about experimentation.

Re: Opinions on the PODxt Live Pedal?

I have a PodXT Live that I really like. As was mentioned on here, it does not sound exactly like what it's modeling, but it sounds damn good. I do still prefer my Marshalls, but am thinking of experimenting with adding the PodXT Live in there as well, perhaps with a Boogie-ish tone. First I have to find the space to set up 3 4x12 cabs to do this. I'll set up a boogie kind of tone without a lot of gain, then split the output from my pedalboard and send one signal to the Line 6. I also have a line 6 head (Flextone 2) and 3 Flextone 4x12's, so I'm not lacking in amplification, LOL!

When I record at home, I use Line 6 stuff, mostly the Guitar Port, and all of the models there are also in the XT Live. Also, I agree with Daemon, the Metal Pack kicks ass! But for recording, especially, Line 6 shines. To hear some examples, go to www.myspace.com/9yu and listen to the songs on there. The first three were done in a "real" studio with a good producer and only the PodXT Live (except for the harmony leads, which were my Marshall 2205). The fourth song was done in my apartment, using the Guitar Port, except for the solo, which was a Pod 2.0 (because I needed a wah and my Line 6 floorboard works with the Pod 2.0). I didn't yet own the XT Live. You'll hear a few good tones on there, though, which may influence your buying decision.

Bottom line, though, for $399 this thing is a steal! Also, the software update gives you the choice of a few different wah pedals, some great sounding ones in there, and it's a free upgrade!

Hope this helps!
