Hey i feel like this might be overdone, and ArtieToo allready pointet out i could use a dp4t switch instead.
But i wanted to hear all of you guys first.
How could i wire this so i still get all options, but with a smaler switch.
or should i just throw my money at 3x tripleshot rings?

Might be a bit easier to read:

This is what i've allready got from ArtieToo:

Re: Optimise wiring?

I can’t help with the wiring but I’ll say that if Artie wrote out a schematic....you can take that to the bank.
There are a handful of guys here that are amazing with this stuff. Artie is one of them.

Re: Optimise wiring?

If you must have switches, go with Artie’s schematic. I would suggest at least trying a Triple Shot for a while - they do what you’re asking in a pretty simple and elegant way and, once you’re used to them, it’s very easy to switch on the fly while playing (and to see what setting the ring is in)

Re: Optimise wiring?

+1 for the Triple Shot rings. I've got over a dozen installed and wouldn't have a bucker guitar without one. Plus this is a completely reversible mod with no residual affect on your guitar should you choose to remove it to go a different direction.

Some people complain about them being difficult to use, which may be the case at first, especially if you wire them according to the main directions. But they also offer an alternate wiring scheme which make way more sense and makes it very intuitive...lowers the learning curve dramatically. And it makes it very easy to see which coils are active and whether the coils are in series or parallel. And it beats having to drill holes into your guitar for extra switches, which causes irreversible damage to your guitar.

Re: Optimise wiring?

Thanks for the kind words all, but I agree with you that TripleShots are the ideal way to discover what sounds you may, or may not, find useful for yourself.

Re: Optimise wiring?

What triple shots would be the ideal for a strat? Haven't made up my mind on the body, but a strat looks like the easiest to mod.
Altso i cant find any DP4T switches other than rotary switches. If you happen to have a model number, i would appreciate if you would share it.

Re: Optimise wiring?

The flat ones would be ideal for a Strat. I've seen them over pickguards, and without pickguards, too.

Re: Optimise wiring?

Also i cant find any DP4T switches other than rotary switches.

That is correct. A DP4T switch must be a rotary switch. A Tele 4-way is electrically the same thing, but that won't really help in your application.

Re: Optimise wiring?

A tele 4 way would be so much easier than a rotary switch... Might actualy consider this. And in combination with a freeway 10 way switch, i could have all posible combinations without a super goofy look.
Any chance at all that some chinese dude made a fender super switch with 5 poles? then i would have any truble fitting it

Youre going to wind up spending a ton of time and energy to do this to find that you really only use 3 or 4 of 35 sounds the guitar produces.

+1
When I got my LP it came with the in/oop, coil split etc pcb board.
I ended up gutting it and wiring it up to coil split but you know what...
I use 2 sounds.
The bridge pickup and the neck pickup.

I always say it is worth doing once to find out what those 4 sounds are, and hardwire those to 1 switch.

Sure I agree, I'm more taken aback by the OP wanting to use 4 switches to accomplish this. The invasiveness for mounting them may be something the OP regrets after finding he doesnt use them all. I used just let the switches flop around inside the cavity until i figured how what scheme I wanted to use. then usually would mount 1 blade and 1 toggle.

Now I use 1 blade and my volume knob and cover all the same area as i did before. But thats just my experience.
