Optimise wiring?

Re: Optimise wiring?

I love "experimental" wiring, but you really don't need to split to both coils. Doing series/split/parallel can be done with a simple DPDT on-on-on switch, making switch installation much neater and more practical. Maybe, switch to the screw coil on the middle pup to keep noiseless.

Re: Optimise wiring?

There's like 7 or so Triple Shot diagrams, but this one puts the split on a push pull so you can set the rings to a particular coil, and use the push pull to compare easier.

That link leads to this diagram, which seems different than your description. The push-pull in this diagram simply controls whether the two pickups are combined in series or in parallel. ?

Re: Optimise wiring?

Just going through my archives. Here's one of my crazy wiring jobs, that's actually along the same lines as you're considering. Master vol/tone, 3P3T rotary, twin DP4T rotary's, and a DPDT on-off-on. I originally had 3 single-sized hb'ers in there, then switched to two tapped QP's and I think it was a JB in the middle. I need to resurrect that thang.

I wish all strats came with a removable control panel. That would make things SOOOOO much easier. I hate having to remove/loosen the strings just for a simple wiring mod.

Re: Optimise wiring?

its easy enough to make that happen if ya have a bit of skill and a good saw with a narrow blade
