Orange = noisey?

Are all Orange amps uncommonly noisey? My bandmate has one and the signal-to-noise ratio seems pretty off. Same things goes for most demos I've seen on youtube.

I've only owned 4 of them but none seemed noisier than my other amps, including mesas, genz-benz and some of my builds as well...

Mine have never been overly noisy.

I would check for a bad pre-amp tube, noisy pickups or bad ground

What are you comparing it to? And what kind of Orange do you have? It its a high gain amp, they're all noisy, but some are more so than others. (I don't remember my Dark Terror being horribly noisy)

My AD-50 is cleaner quieter than most all my other heads. Any noise comes from what gets plugged into it.

I don't have one, I'm basing this on youtube vids and my buddy's TH30

Could be crappy electricity at whatever place he has it at.

My former th30 was quite silent. A bit of hiss ar higher gain settings but no more than ither high-gainers...

We share the same rehearsal space. My amp is noisey with the gate off as well, but not as bad as his.
