Orange VT1000 Valve Tester

Not sure if this is old news but I just saw this in Guitar Player. It would be a nice to have but at $499 it is too rich for my blood seeing how little I would use it. I would also like a meter instead or in addition to the idiot lights. I remember the good old days when you could walk into the electronics store and they would have tube testers setup for self service. It would be nice if guitar shops started putting these on their counters.

Re: Orange VT1000 Valve Tester

If I was working as a guitar tech for a band, or as an amp repairer, it would be a worthwhile investment. Otherwise to have it just because I could, it would not be a good choice to spend my money on it.

Re: Orange VT1000 Valve Tester

I agree, as cool as it is, it's too much money for the average guitarist (who, let's face it, mainly plays by himself) and still a lot of dough for a touring artist who could buy 500$ worth of good quality tubes and be good for a while.

I'm pretty sure some vintage tube testers can still be had for less too...

One of the least valuable tools you could ever buy.
Just buy new tubes. If they are DOA or fail right away, return for refund.
