Orange you pleased to see my NAD?

Re: Orange you pleased to see my NAD?

Single. I dislike channel switching, I'm a volume roller. Its big brother the OR100 is 2 channel, but that one doesn't have the nifty HF Drive control.

Haven't fired it up yet, arrived very cold (East Coast) so I'm letting it acclimate a bit before plugging in.

Oh ok, I've always had 2-channel amps, prefer to just press one switch than to mess about with knobs and stuff!

Have you got the matching cab or a different one? Always been intrigued with Orange amps but not sure if I'd like the tone.

I have a Mesa 412 though I'm trying to sell it at the moment. That will be used Weds at practice. For now I'll jack into my Peavey 212 combo with a G12H30 and stock Sheffield. Should suffice for the apartment.

Awesome! Never really took to Orange amps for my playing BUT they sound amazing when others use them. Enjoy!

Actually I been on the lookout for a Mesa cab... Is it the Standard or Traditional?

Re: Orange you pleased to see my NAD?

So after a good 2 hour session at bedroom levels I'm quite pleased with it. The real test is at practice Wednesday, but for now I'm very happy.

Incredibly thick sounding. Likely kills with V30s, took me a bit to dial out the soupiness of the G12H30 at low levels. But it was pretty easy. The HF Drive control is quite cool, I kind of used that as my primary shape changer then fine tuned with the 3-band. Very useable EQ, no dramatic variation but it essentially sounded a different shade of good at every setting.
It loves my Strat, which is nice because so do I. Next best is kind of a toss-up between the Explorer and V.
Footswitch isn't very practical in terms of footswitch functionality. It takes the master volume out of the circuit, so unless its already almost maxed there will be a huge volume increase upon switching. However I loved the cleans I was getting with the master out and the gain low.

Quite pleased with where I'm at for now. Looking forward to letting it really open up at practice.

Great amp. I'd love to add one to my stable of amps.

If you think it sounds good now, wait till you let it rip through the oversized Mesa cab w/V30's. Orange amps just seem to get monstrous sounding once you hit the sweet spot.

Re: Orange you pleased to see my NAD?

Nice. If it sounds half as good as the 70s OR circuit it's based on, you've got a hell of an amp. I'll never let go of my 90s OR80 reissue.

Hmm, a few people have suggested I get the Traditional size cos the speakers are too boomy in the standard.

And I've seen people say the standard is brighter than the traditional. I can say one thing for certain- traditional will be a bit easier to move around. OS 412 is a bastard to load in/out of the car. Giant casters make it nice and easy to move on the ground, but damn is it ever annoying to squeeze into a Corolla.
