Original JB re-released??

Re: Original JB re-released??

The older pickups were hand guided on the type of machine that is used in the Custom Shop... the later production models are wound on a programmable & automated machine that should theoretically yeild a higher consistancy between samples.
That said... an older one might have a bit more "personality" or deviation from the standard to it since there was more potential for human error... good or bad.

Wouldn't an old JB(J) be a "handwound" pup? when did Seymour go into "mass" production?

Some people swear by the fact those old JBs sounded better new than they sound new today...I don't know...but I suspect it's just the age of the mag like Zerb or whomever said..or the "handwound" vs" mass produced" variable.
i know that back in the day they used the older machines that are now in the custom shop to wind all the pickups . maybe that is the mojo? that being said i have used the JB since like 82-83 in many a guitar and many different JB's and some are better than others, like amps, guitars, ect.
