Original PATB-1 neck model

rotting casket

hello,

I've got a Carvin ST300 w/ OFR that has a PATB-2 Distortion in the bridge. I'm thinking of installing a PATB-1 neck model in the neck.

question....does the PATB-1 neck model have good clean tones?

thanks

Re: Original PATB-1 neck model

I have mine paired with a PATB-3 in a maple Carvin DC127-T. Tonally, it's between a Jazz and a 59n. Kind of a cool tone, actually.

PATB + Maple (especially Carvin) = Boner

Anyway, yes, it has a great clean tone. It's very balanced, and sort of a do-it-all pickup, but not bland at all.

Re: Original PATB-1 neck model

It is a very bonerriffic combo. Fat, punchy, but extremely detailed and touch sensitive. The Carvin neck with an ebony fingerboard make it a joy to play FAST.

when you say maple, does that mean your Carvin has maple wings, too (not just the neck)? my ST is maple neck & wings, with an ebony fretboard.

thanks!

In my experience, wings don't matter at all. In the Carvin store, there was virtually no difference between the mahogany, alder, and maple-winged guitars. If you are wondering if a PATB-1 is good for 100% maple, IT MOST DEFINITELY IS!!!!
