Other than the Jazz or '59, what do you pair your JB's with?

The preconception that the JB/'59 doesn't work that I had for the longest time has been shattered. Really enojoying the '59 in there right now, but I'm curious what else you guys think work together with the JB.

What else do you guys like in the neck position paired with your JB's? Pearly Gates? A2P? DiMarzio something?

Really curious! :D

I like the JB in strat like guitars with hss configurations , while I hate it in mid-heavy guitars like les paul. So my pick up of choice is the hot rails (neck and middle) or dimarzio cruiser

I like the Sentient a lot. Works very well with a JB, but my favorite combo is the Alt 8 Bridge Sentient neck I have in my solid KOA 93 Carvin DC 127.
The Sentient is not as muddy as the 59 can be at times and is more ballanced than ether the Jazz or the 59. Also the Sentient really shines on articulate thick high gain tones.

I kinda want to try the Sentient. Is it possible to Custom Floor order one with the standard Duncan glossy bobbins?

What is the Cruiser like? I have an SDS-1 in my Strait paired with a Custom in an H-S configuration, and I kinda like it. I've read the SDS-1 can get P90-ish, but I really feel it doesn't. I bet it would pair well with a JB, though.

Saturday Night Special or a P90
Actual P90 or Phat Cat? I remember trying the Phat Cat Neck and digging it a lot.

A Whole Lotta Humbucker neck would pair with a JB. Could try a Seth, or even a Brobucker bridge in the neck. Or a Slash neck.

The JB I have is paired with an A2 59n, like it better than the A5 but the JB has a ceramic in it I'm on the fence about.

I've had the Sentient kinda between a Jazz and 59n but kinda boring.boring a fan of the BW neck, have it paired with a Distortion, love goodness

Yeah, I've been curious about trying an A2 pickup paired with the JB. I bet it would pair well.

I bet the DiMarzio PAF 36 would work well too. I might get something like that for my Gibson.

My buddy has one of the PAF dimarzios in the bridge of a strat

It sounds awesome

I always mess with him that it would be a better neck pickup

The few months I had a JB, I paired with an Alnico II Pro.

Have done the same. I like that combo much better than I do the A 5 Jazz. I.have an Alnico II Pro I {a Jazz with a mag swap actually} in the neck of my Purple Quilt Carvin DC 127 now with a Perpetual Burn in the bridge that is also a good combo.

The cruiser has been used by Andy Timmons for ages. My bandmate is a huge fan of him and turned his ibanez into a Timmons signature guitar having the same electronic of his idol. So cruisers neck and middle, AT-1 in bridge. The pickup has a modern sound and unlike a normal single coil is not overly bright. Pronounced treble without being shrilly, I found it very balanced. And it's a really good match with the AT-1. It seems working well under gain. To my ears it doesn't sound like a P90, if that specific sound you are searching for, but it worths a try, maybe you will find it interesting (and a good companion for the JB)

I've had a 59A3 in my Hamer Mirage for a while now. I had the stock 59, then with A4, but even the A4 was too muddy so I ended up taking it out.

I reckon a seth would work well too.

(The JB has an A4 in there now but a JB is a JB, so it only tweaks the sound a bit, not a different beast or anything.)

I want to try a JB in the bridge with Texas hots in a strat.
...and ideally in another with bare knuckle apaches which I suspect would be a great HSS combination.

ive paired my jb with a wlh neck and it was great! currently have a sns neck in there which is good too

Yeah, I bet that would work. I remember reading Andy Timmons did use an A2 JB before switching to his AT-1, I think?

I love the JB/Jazz combination, but if I had to choose, I'd pick a Sentient. The Sentient is an amazing neck pickup for more than just metal alone. I think it's a great choice for everything. It's got the oompf and girth of the '59, the cleanliness, the high fidelity of the jazz.

But then, I'd pick a Pegasus to match the Sentient. Slightly more output than a JB but also more open, keeping the liquid feel but not with the high end spike of the JB.

So I'm back to square one.

I am using that too right now, also with aut-split along an SSL-6 in the middle. Best quack I have got so far using an HSH guitar with Duncans. But I am tempted to try the 59 neck too :)
