Other than the Jazz or '59, what do you pair your JB's with?

As for the 59/JB don't go - that was your problem. On paper it seems an obvious pair
- Both A5 mags
- Similar cutting highs
- Complimentary scoop and pushed mids for a full both on, or clean neck tone.
- Tighter bass in a 59 for neck, looser for bridge with the 59.
- JB not overly powerful, but with great lunch

But hey, odd things get in our heads.

I pair the JB in my Jackson with a 59n/Jazzn hybrid in the neck slot.

FWIW, I just moved the JB to my Strat with the DiMarzio SDS-1 in the neck. It's not a bad pairing either.

I do know plenty of people who use a JB with stock fender singles. There is a big volume boost when you select the JB, but I think that's what they were going for.

My bridge JB is paired with a neck SD P90 Vintage and it balances well. The JB doesn't have a volume boost or overpower the P90 when switching positions or when using both in parallel.

I used to always use the JB at 10 guitar volume like all of my pickups. Since it's so powerful it cleans up flawlessly with lower guitar volume. I keep it around 8 or so now usually and crank it for those times when I need to drive the amp like a boost.

With Gravity Storm neck in my Floyd Rose mahogany LTD. Very unique sound, the JB does its thing while the GS has the high end rolled off and the low mids are very, very present.
