More or less.

To explain things simply, if a product was successful in the past or a rock star used said item, the value of the item increases with its age.

tl;dr: older=better

Re: Ouch! This Is Just Silly Money For Any Wah Wah!

Yeah, go try and find a price for an actual '54 Strat, not a reissue, an actual '54.

Re: Ouch! This Is Just Silly Money For Any Wah Wah!

But im just saying will thies products sound better then something new?

Re: Ouch! This Is Just Silly Money For Any Wah Wah!

well, in some aspects older products sound 'sweeter' as a result of simple wear and tear on its components. ie:old pickups get demagnetized a tad over time and as a result the tone is softer and smoother compared to before.

For that price, when I click on the toe switch, auto suck had better engage.

a fool and his money....
really though prices for vintage equip has gottan out of hand. I mean there is no way to tell if every part is original.
Kinda like the person who paid $600+ for the strap that 'looked just like' the one Hendrix used.

-precious roy, precious roy, makin' lots of suckers out of girls and boys.

Funny thing is...When these items were made,it was all about using cheap parts and parts used in large amounts...Some of the great tone and things we like today happened because of accident, plus alot of the "actual" components aren't available to us today...The old wahs sound great because of the taper on the pot...Same thing with the old inductors..A reissue Vox Clyde McCoy sounds nothing like an original from 67 simply because those 67 parts aren't available today....However...over the last few years or so,guys like Teese and Mike Fuller have been able to copy the original magic of these original wah components...My modded Vox 847 is so very vocal because it now has all the correct components, including the pot, inductor, correct make caps, and board tweaks...Back in those days, the companies would use whatever they could...Specs on resistors and the tone of 1 pedal to another were all over the place! Carbon Comp resistors are all over the place at + or - 20% also...Is it tonal voodoo or just a happy and lucky accident?

I was fortunate lately to actually find some NOS transistors and tropical fish caps for my own wah projects,as used in the original wahs of the late 60s...At least the inside of my wah looks cool...

what sort of moron would actually think that THAT wah pedal is worth almost $600?? Really, you could buy a new wah and get it modded for less!!

Re: Ouch! This Is Just Silly Money For Any Wah Wah!
