So what I'm hearing is that I have some choices here lol. I can go with a JB/59 set, a Custom/59 set, a JB/Jazz set, or a Custom/Jazz set....no the question is which one???!!

Well lets see....I am going to get a guitar with a Mahogany Body either a Maple or Mahogany w/ a Rosewood Fret Board, and a set-neck. Through-Body stringing is opition but would be awesome if I got one. But a regular Tune-O-Matic w/ stop bar is cool too.

*Remember, this is a pickup question* :laugh2:

With Custom-Jazz set you could play even Domination from Pantera.. (i played Pantera with Custom SH-5) and for old green day stuff you need just to lower your gain

One guy wrote about set neck and bolt on guitar difference; he is damn right about it. Jb fits better for bolt on necks..

Another thing is that Jb is a little more lead pickup.. If you play Rhytm guitar i advise you Custom SH-5 and Jazz neck SH-2n

So you're saything that if I play mostly rhythm stuff with some leads go with the Jazz/Custom Set because of the set neck>?

So does everyone think that with a set-neck a set of Jazz/Custom will work with both punk and metal?

Which bridge humbucker is good for the early greenday, metallica, Black Sabbath, The Vandals, Coheed and Cambria...basically I need a balance of a pickup that can handle punk and metal when I need it too. I know its a vague question but I need help.!

Early metal guys, like Black Sabbath, did not use overwound pickups like the JB because overwound pickups like the JB had not yet been invented!

I'm going to say the Duncan 59B or 59 Trembucker. It's the same output and basically the same pickup that the guys who invented the "humbucker through a Marshall tone" used in thier Gibson guitars. Guys like Eric Clapton in Cream and Tommy Iommi in Black Sabbath.

I'm not certain Iommi used a Marshall in the early days, but regardless, the 59B is very similar to the bridge pickup he had in his early 60's Gibson SG.
