Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Yah man, that's quality! :)

I dig the clip. Which amount of gain, treble, mids and so on did you use on this track?

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Sounds pretty cool.

I think if I ever wanted a more powerful bridge pickup in a (traditional) strat I'd try a P90 type first before trying any humbucker types. I think P90s have awesome character.

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Love it .. sweet track too man. I have a phat cat in the neck of my tele and it just made the guitar come alive.. noisy as hell though.

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

sounds great, rid. Seems to fix the sissy strat bridge ice pick without going to humbucker land.

I love Minihumbuckers for that. They sound awesome in Alder strats, and still sound stratty but are basically a souped up strat tone.

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Thanks guys:)

Well first I used an OD-3 from Boss, very low gain setting, ampsim was set fairly at 12 or little more on all eq's, had it on my Tweed sound with the mic-sim set for center placement for a clear sound.
Amp sim set for clean!
Used a Crush Zone for the leadpart, and the delay is a Red Repeat, plus my always engaged CM comp/limiter is also used.
Well the Phat Cat sounds alot like my PGb that normally resides in my strat.
As for the sissy singlecoils, those would have sounded much the same here as well;)
Anyways the PC is a cool P-90 pickup, dig the bite and sweetness of it.
I think that I will make a single pickup guitar based on this mean cat:D

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

huh, now i got to try that! I got a poopy old fender esquire gt that's all mahogany set-neck. i think the whole mahogany deal just leave it with no articulation whatsoever. I thought the JB would fix it up but even the JB doesn't sound as good as it does in another guitar... what do you all think?

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

good job

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

i like it...i wonder what a set of those would sound like in my HB-35?

(shhh...i have speakers now at work...uh oh :smack: :laugh2: :) )

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Thanks:)
Well I think it will sound fab Hoss.
I took it out and returned the PGb, as it is a permanent resident in my strat, the PC will end up in something else down the road, I am just going to figure out what:)

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

That was one of my favorite tones of yours! Real rich and dynamic. I can dig it.

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Yeah, sounds nice and open. I've never bought a Phatcat. How's the noise level, compared to a bridge single coil? Less or same? Did it match up, phase-wise with your single coil middle?

Re: Outline jam....Phat Cat usage

Thanks:)
Cool to see you around again Biu.
It was a tad more quiet than my SSL-1's, but it has the typical hum of a singlecoil, just less due to the housing.
No phase troubles, fitted right in with the SSL-1.
Sounds abit like PGb to me, but I am keeping it, but it is going into some other guitar, I am looking for a hardtail guitar for this one, something Jr like would be cool!
