Re: P-90 Hum reduction question
I read on another forum that someone had put nickel covers on their P-90's and it reduce the hum by 90%. Can any body verify that this would work? I love the sound of my P-90's but the hum is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.
A few thoughts with p90s.
1) Are there dimmers on your circuit? Those make everything noisier, but with p90s they can be a nightmare. This obviously only works at home.
2) ISP decimator set low, first thing in your signal chain can be a lifesaver.
3) Learn to play with and find that facing different angles can drastically reduce hum. While this might not work playing a gig, during the song, you can cut hum in between by finding a quiet spot during sound check and putting a dot of tape on the floor.
4) shield your electronics cavity as well as use ns covers.
I want to try the nickle covers, but my main p90 guitar has thorn stapletops in it.
Personally, for playing out, the decimator would be my weapon of choice.
