hey whats up, im new at this forum and if one of you could give me simple advice, i would really appreciate it.

I bought the p-90 phat cat pickup, its pretty tight, but a little thin sounding.

do any of you know of a kick ass agressive humbucker, mostly for the rock punk/rock, genre. I also have a burst bucker but it seems really fat sounding.
basically maybe you know of a pickup thats a mix of a p-90ish sound and a regular humbucker?

thanks!!

Re: p-90/humbucker

Actually I think the Phat Cat is the closest mix of a P90/Hummer I've come across (and I've used a lot of stuff), so I think you have to ask what you're lacking in your setup (might not be the pickup that's the problem) and then address that.

Re: p-90/humbucker

Yeah - can u give a rundown of your guitar, amp, pedals etc etc? Burstbuckers are pretty dang good, maybe you just need to broaden your horizons a bit, or tunr down the bass on your amp...

Re: p-90/humbucker

The phat cats are true p90's in a hummer size. Try raising them up higher than you normally would a humbucker. I'd be suprised if they remained thin at that point.

Re: p-90/humbucker

hey guys thanks for replying,
today i put the p-90 in my better guitar that had the burst bucker in, and it just sounds a lot better. I originally put the p-90 in my first guitar ... (125 dollar washburn shadow series!!!) and i guess i was just dumb cuz all the elctronics and pots are ****ty. but now i think im sticking with that phat cat. my new guitar has 1000K pots and just better craftmenship and what not.

right now im trying to find the amp im gonna stay with, ive had the orange ad-30htc, now im trying out the mesa triple rec. i dont run pedals at the moment, I really just like the true sound of the amp gain. of coarse theres some kick ass pedals out there that i dont know of, but i like a more simplier set up.

the setting on the amp i run are generally, lower bass, more treble, gain sound, with mids higher then middle, same with presance

and i just recently started to tune my guitar half a step down which as you all know gives me that fuller sound.

but thanks for the replies guys
