On rondo music they have some killer deals around now, one of the many options i have is a les paul clone in black with p-90's. I like to play many different kinds of music, mostly anything with distortion, like GNR, Led Zep., Nirvana ect ect. But how would p-90's do for the zakk wylde/ozzy osbourne sound i like to play in sometimes?

Re: P-90's for metal?

I would think that P-90's would sound great on Some GNR, most Led Zep, and some Nirvana. However you can probably wave bye-bye to Zakk while playing said axe! I think that P-90's are too often overlooked by players. Upon finally playing them, many players realize that P-90's are the very sound they have been questing for.

EMG now makes it full line up in P-90 style. I'm thinking about putting them in my LP Deluxe.

get a copy of Black Sabbath's Volume 4. then you'll know.

for what its worth, i just put a set of Kent Armstrong P-90s in my strat and so far i like it. very ballsy!

Re: P-90's for metal?

i love p90s. with enough effects you can get any sound you want out of almost any pickup however so yes, p90s could be used for metal. it wouldnt be as typical as a high output humbucker but i think you could get your own sound out of it

metal + P90 = Pig90 :D

Before there were Super Distortions and JB's, there were P-90's.
