P-Rail For a Bass

Re: P-Rail For a Bass

There isn't anything exactly like that, though there are a few bass pickups that offer different coil configs. Several manufacturers offer 3-coil Music Man pickups that include a 3rd dummy coil under one of the conventional coils allowing the pickup to be used in a a side-by-side or stacked configuration. On the active front the EMG-TW offers essentially the same thing. It's 'full' output option is identical to an EMG-CS which sounds vaguely like a Music Man pickup, while it's split mode is a hum-canceling Jazz Bass. I have one in the bridge position of a Spector Rebop and I really like it, though I use the J-bass mode 3/4 of the time.

Re: P-Rail For a Bass

At one stage I asked the custom shop about making putting a j and single coil p pickup under a soapbar cover. I didn't want to spend the amount of cash for an experiment though.

Honestly, I'm only part time bass player and get all I need from EMG 35P 35TW bass.
