P-Rail for a Strat

Hello All -

Ive recently acquired Warmoth Strat style. I’m considering changing pickups, and I’m thinking about experimenting with a P-Rail in neck position.

Has anyone here used a P-Rail in this manner? If so, I’d greatly appreciate hearing about your experience.

Many thanks in advance for all info!

I think it's great in the neck. I have mainly used the P-90 coil or both coils in parallel. I feel that the Rail coil is a bit anemic and in series it is WAY too "big" and middy for the neck. But either the P-90 or parallel go well with Strat pups (or, actually any kind of pup) in the bridge.

This could be a cool project. Wire the rail like a normal Strat single, then use a switch to kick in the P-90.

And welcome to the forum.

I used a P-Rail in the neck a lot. While using the Triple Shot rings with a pickguard is clumsy, many of the switch positions are possible with other kinds of switches. My favorite 2 sounds were the P-90 coil by itself and both coils in parallel.
