P-Rail in Epiphone Les Paul Jr.

I'm trying to install a p-rail bridge pickup in a Epiphone Les Paul Jr. This is a single pickup guitar. I am going to use one stacked volume tone knob and a Gibson style three way switch. I would like to get one position to be the rail PU only, one of the other positions to be the p90 only and i would guess the center position to be both the p90 and rail. I have looked at the wiring diagrams and have not found one like this. I could guess, but I would not like to screw this up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, you can't use a Switchcraft type 3 way switch to split the P-rails. You'll need a mini switch, an on-on-on IIRC.

A Triple-shot would be another answer. It's switches inside a pickup ring. You can do either coil, or put the coils in series or parallel.

The Duncan web site has a 1 p rail 1 vol. chart but it uses a mini toggle switch on-off-on (dpdt), not a on-on-on. ???

My bad. Use an on-off-on then.

Honestly, I think you should go for the single volume + switch setup. Concentric pots are a bit of a pain to use.

I have a Epi LP Jr with a P-Rails and a Triple shot ring. It is the simplest way to get extra tonal options. It went in nice and easy.

I have two Danos and have gotten use to them. I will use a good quality CTS pot. They seem to work best. :)

Those little tiny switches look like they would be hard to switch during a performance. :)

I can see your point. A toggle switch would simplify things quite a bit for stage work.

However, let me ask you this: how often do you really need to switch sounds on the fly? The way I play, which I admit is simplistic, only requires one sound at a time per song.

Very easy to do on stage. It becomes second hand really quick! Same amount of time as is required to use one of the toggle switches.

Re: P-Rail in Epiphone Les Paul Jr.

if you're going to put in a cocentric pot anyway, why not wire up each coil to a knob? That way you can dial in JUST the right amount of each pickup if you want. Then you could make the switch into a series/parallel switch or a killswitch if you like. Just an idea.
