P-rails in a telecaster

Greetings interwebs,

I recently purchased a cheap telecaster and I plan to mod the living crap out of it, one of the mods being a set of SD p-rails with triple shots. My question is this: should I mount the pickups backwards in order to have the rails to the extreme outer edges, sort of like you'd find on a standard telecaster? Or would it not make much of a difference? I'm wondering if anyone has already tried this.

Re: P-rails in a telecaster

The neck with the rails away from the bridge was thought to be a major improvement. The bridge with the rails facing the bridge was too bright.

I say...try both. You won't know until you try. Some people like it one way, some the other (some even like them facing the same way, so there is that, too).

+1

They can be mounted in whichever orientation you prefer. That being said, the rails used together will only sound like the Strat notch position if they're on the inside.
