P-Rails pickup wiring help/pointers please.

Hi all,

I have a Fender Modern Player Marauder that I am customising a bit...
Just like this one:

Anyway, I'm going to keep the jazzmaster pup in the neck and have bought (but not yet received) a p-rails for the bridge.
It's going to look a bit more retro I think...
Something like this:

ANyway, I want to wire it up to the existing 5-way blade switch and hope to get the following config...
1) Bridge humbucker
2) Bridge Blade
3) Bridge p90
4) Neck and P90 (or neck and humbucker)
5) Neck

I've had a look for a suitable wiring diagram but have had no luck yet...
Can anyone give me some pointers?

cheers

MrB

Welcome to the forum.

I shall begin by pointing you in the direction of EITHER the Triple Shot mounting surround OR a pair of push-pull pots. This would allow the P-Rails to select between four sounds.

If you feel really ambitious, have both the Triple Shot AND push-pull pots. This would offer four basic P-Rail coil combinations plus Phase Reversal and Series/Parallel interconnection of the two pickups.

NOTE - These suggestions imply changing to a three-way lever selector switch, wired like a modern Telecaster to give Bridge/Both/Neck.

You can haz exactly what you want if you get one of those 4-pole superswitches. Might even work with a 2-pole. Spend some time figuring them out - they're actually not complicated at all. Now the purpose-built Megaswitches... yeah. They'll melt yer brains.

Thanks for that. If I did just want to wire the p rails up to my 5way switch, could I make that work and if so what basic sound configurations coyld I get?

Re: P-Rails pickup wiring help/pointers please.

I can't find any info on the net as to what switch is in it. I'm guessing by the switching it's just the standard Fender unit. If that's true, you'll be able to get the regular "a, a+b, b, b+c, c" switching. So something like

1) Bridge blade
2) Bridge, parallel
3) Bridge p90
4) Neck and P90
5) Neck
