P-Strat (Power Strat) Using P-Rail @ Bridge: Fender S1 Vol / Varitone / 2P6T >>>

Hello All:

Intro about me:

I build / modify guitars (acoustic & electric) as a part-time bus / hobby under the name Jo'Son[/BI]. Get It - play on Gibson using my last name 'Johnson'. lol

Anyways ... I've built a Billie-Tele a few years back using a 'Birds-Eye' top semi-hollow body 'f-hole' with a lacquered maple neck. Loaded it S-D Stacked Hot Rail at Bridge, Cool Rail in Middle, a S-D Tele Neck PU, using a Strat-like 5 way lever switch in a typical Tele control layout. Worth noting is that this guitar had a great 'clean bite' sound in the bridge position! Nothing new about a Hot Rail at the bridge, so I think the semi-hallow body cavity acoustically coupled to the bridge Hot-Rail (since it required full on volume to get this sound)!

Has anyone experimented with cavities in solid body electrics? Didn't Carvel Guitars do this? Cavities may be the next new-old frontier in electric guitars .... ?

>>> Back to topic title. So now I am in the final stages of the P-Strat. I am having decision issues on how to best switch the P-Rail, using the Ultra Free-Way, 5/6 Pos Selector, 5 Pos Lever Sel, Dual DPDT On-On-On, etc. I want to easily select: Series Out Phase, P90, Rail, Parallel, Series In Phase (not necessarily in that order). The P-Rail output feeds a Fender S1 500K pot / P-P 4PDT, then feeds into a Varitone (a 3-wire real notch filter), then to the output jack.

Suggestions on switching device? Who can link me to a wiring schematic for the P-Rail app above? Thanks.

Don't hold this against me but, who has used the 'Black Ice' passive distortion device? Is it worth the trouble / sound OK? I thought about using the lowest distortion level in the P-Strat but it sappers a little cheesy sounding. Maybe it's cool sounding thought?

Thanks,

Later, Billy
