P90~SD Single Coil~P90 setup?

Happy New Year all! For my 1st project of the year, I'm toying with idea of P90 Antiq's in the neck & bridge of my Fender Strat pickguard. I'm also thinking of slipping some Strat single coil in the middle. While I'm well aware the P90's are a beast all their own, I'm trying to come up with a not too hot middle SC that can keep up with the P90's level wise, but offer me some of those sweet strat tones we all love in the 2&4 position on the 5-way. Right now I have an SSL-2 RW/RP flanked by a Little 59 in the bridge & an old vintage 70's Fender SC in the neck, & I love the 2&4 sounds, but is this at all possible using the P90's? I want to try to come up with some nice clean tones. Also, would I need to have RW/RP to fight the hum.
Thanks all in advance for any thoughts and suggestions for that middle slot!!

Cool idea. My only concern would be the SSL-2 being too mild. You may want an SSL-6. Also, you won’t have the same quack with P-90s in 2 & 4, it will be its own thing.

Perhaps a tapped Quarter Pound? I know they can be ordered with a tap, so you can get a clearer, lower-output sound, and then when you want it to have the same volume as the P90s, there it is.

Yeah.....but can an SSL-6 deliver those nice 2&4 sounds with a clean amp setting? Thanks Blille~

Well, it will compete level wise with the P90s. But a P90 & Quarter Pound combo ain't gonna sound like a typical Strat. No way to get a P90 to sound like that, in any combo.

What Mincer said. The P90s are not like strat pickups so they will sound different.

You could get a prail instead of the antiquity and engage the rail with the middle one for something much closer.

In that case, I'm barking up the wrong neck. If there's no mild mannered single coil to sweetly behave with the 8.6k & 7.8k output of the Antiq's, then perhaps I'll call it a day & stick with just the 2 P90's, or maybe 3 of them, but only if there's some interesting tonal possibilities to be had. Maybe, and ALL SD crew please chime in, if I were to custom order an SSL-2 (my fave) slighly overwound to 8k or so, would it match up better with the Antiq's? I just don't need to go for a big hairy, tapped 13k middle sound.....i just don't use it.....only for the 2&4 pos. OY,,,, i'll never sleep tonite. Maybe i should call SD?,,,,,but i assume the people in the know are checking these posts & hopefully get what i want!! In one guitar my middle SSL 2 gets along fine with my 11k Little 59-b with both coils on, not auto-tapped, for a very pleasant #2 sound. Hmmm or maybe a Little 59-n, & not tapping it...11k or so.....keeping it set at a low height...

Hiya DAVE Eichenberger!!! , kindly check my last, & hopefully not too redundant entry on this thread. Think clean P90 sounds while pondering my middle p/u query.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I don't have P90's in a strat, but I do have a Phat Cat in the bridge of one and it geta along nicely with a pair of Fender 57/62's.
