Packing and Shipping Guitars with no case

What do you use for packing a guitar for shipment that does not have a case? I snagged a couple of nice sized boxes from GC but I am still not sure if I am comfortable with that

Re: Packing and Shipping Guitars with no case

I wrap a layer of newspaper on my guitars (nitro finishes react to bubble wrap, but I still wrap poly finishes with newspaper), then a whole lot of the big bubble bubble wrap.

double box. Don't pad too tightly otherwise any impact could be transmitted to the guitar

+1. I've shipped a bunch of guitars without cases, double box (small triangle box inside a retangle box). That's how manufacturers ship them.

I shipped my last two sales with no case. Wrapped in bubble wrap, then padded in about a million pages of excess newspaper. as long as the guitar can't move in the box, it's mostly fine.

Re: Packing and Shipping Guitars with no case

I would just just grab a inexpensive guitar case for shipping.

If it's not a set-neck or neck-thru I always take the neck off and ship it in a well-packed box.

Re: Packing and Shipping Guitars with no case

I go pretty nuts with the bubble wrap to form a protective "case" of my own. Then I'll use packing peanuts or an ass-load of newspaper (can take 6 or 7 wall street journals).

It's cheap and I've shipped at least 6 or 7 guitars this way. No one's ever complained.

Does nitro really react with bubble-wrap? First I'vbe heard of this...
