Paf Joe - teach me

If only... :)

Also, I wouldn't have tried to TM double cremes; that's just a dick move, IMHO.

Tried to, and suceeded. There was an ongoing legal dispute since 2016 to get rid of that trademark, but it got settled out of court just recently this year. So I think they still carry the TM.

I desperately wanted to like the PAF Joe, but it was too smooth on the attack in most guitars I tried it in. It felt kind of.... lazy to play, no matter how hard I hit the strings. The tubey sound was there, but the sound seemed to get lost. Fwiw, this seemed true across a couple 22-fret JS guitars, one basswood, one mahogany.

Ended up going back to the PAFPro--it stays buttery smooth, fairly bright, but seems more responsive. The pick attack blends nicely into the main sound if you roll off the tone a bit. It's an oldy but a goody.

Shredding must be brutalz on da pickups.
Maybe a 'limited lifetime' sticker should be affixed to these mutant shred variants...

Have you tried an air norton in the neck? How would you compare it to the paf joe?

I currently have the breed bridge model in the bridge with a paf 36th bridge model in the neck. Sorry if I wasn't clear, but I was looking for something bright WITHOUT sharp attack.

I was gonna keep the breed and try a paf joe in the neck, but I tried exchanging the screw poles on the 36th with the hex ones on the breed, and I think that fixed the issue for me. But now I don't like the breed in the bridge lol. Gonna try a tone zone in the bridge now.

Its a ridiculously bright, snappy guitar. Swamp ash strat, and all maple neck with stainless steel frets. Tone zone should be fine for it.

I think you would like the PAF Joe. Fuller pick attack and subdued bass.

I tried it and did not like it, because of that very reason.

I went to an air classic, but I wish that I had gone to a PAF Pro. But that guitar is long gone now.

It sucks cause the pickups are direct mounted on my guitar, so I have to ream out the height adjustment holes. I don't think DiMarzio will let me exchange them that way.
