PAF Pup for ES-335

Re: PAF Pup for ES-335

Howdy,

I agree with Simon F. Try a 59 in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. I've got a '59 set in my 1980 ES-335 and the neck is a bit "boomy" as has been posted earlier. The '59 set remains a good "bang-for-the-buck" option. Good luck.

PS: DiMarzio has it's Eric Johnson 'bucker. Made to be trebly; like from an old Country Gent. Just a thought.

Hmmm how about a Phat Cat Tapped, with a 59n?
Have it wired up so its the Phat cat, then 59n Split with the Phat Cat Tapped for another humbucking tone, then just the 59n on its own?

If you go for a HB/PC combo, the Phat Cat should be in the neck, and the '59 in the bridge. Otherwise you risk an overly bright bridge with a dark neck, and getting an amp setting that works for both is tough (shades of the infamous 490R/498T!).

I've found that a bright neck with a warm bridge makes for a lot of usable tones from both PU's.
