Paint

My last few guitars I painted suffered from a few defects, probably most of them from applying to heavy a coat of paint as well as doing it with the guitar vertical.

Is it more effective to apply say 5 thin coats as opposed to the 2 "normal" coats I've been doing? Also is primer necessary on a guitar that I've already stripped and sanded?

1. Sand it well, wipe the dust off with wet

2. Primer is your friend. Just very light coats, and not to many

3. Sand and wipe again

4. Multiple very thin coats for best results
- Light spray just to dust/cover
- Wait a couple minutes
- Do another
- Wait a couple minutes
- Do another

5. Long even passes at appropriate height can't be stressed enough.

Just enough paint to get to the shade you want.

THEN clear coat.

Example: Done with Krylon

Woah! That's an insanely nice job. Does the method of stripping the paint matter at all? I've mostly just been sanding with a little bit of chemicals to get problem spots.
