Painting a guitar from scratch.

Okay, the guitar should be pictured below. Here are my questions. (Yes, you can answer with sarcasm and clever witticisms and you can also bite me):

1. Do I start with a primer? If so, what is it made of and what is a good brand?

2. I gather that oil based paint pens can follow thereafter and that is my current intent.

3. I take it I finish with a high gloss. What is it made of and what is a good brand?

Thanks in advance for your serious responses.

Re: Painting a guitar from scratch.

Sand very smooth, add grain filler, sand again, sanding sealer, sand again, prime, sand again, paint, wet sand, gloss, wet sand, buff. I used spray nitro from reranch.

OR - Sand smooth and wipe tru oil on it until it's shiny. (Lightly buffing between coats with a white scouring pad.)

What is your goal for a final finish? We are kind of shooting in the dark here.
