Pair of '78's in my Wolfgang

Bought a '78 for my 5150 replica and thought it sounded so awesome I decided to put a neck and bridge in my 2010 Wolfgang USA. I love the Wolfgang pickups but these 78's are just incredible.

The mods needed were super easy. With a string cutter I was able to snip the screw ends to fit the form of the wolfgang body. For the neck pickup I did the same plus a little filing of the edges to round it off. The bridge was a Trembucker so it just needed some filing of the already rounded edges to fit the cavity.

With some Mother's plastic polish I wiped the seymour duncan logos off in minutes.

Will definitely hang on to my Wolfgang pickups but for now I'm all about these 78's!

Nice work.

That reminds me that I still need to put the '78 into the bridge position in my #1 Les Paul.

I keep hearing good things about the 78's. I like how you did the "Slash" zebra configuration. Looks great.

Thanks, guys. The Wolfgang pickups are hotter with a really big sound and surprisingly great clarity. Awesome pickups. But there's also something about the clarity, chime, and balls to these lower gain 78's that is pretty amazing. It's a win with either set but the 78's are different enough that it was worth the swap for now.

The pickup configuration wasn't because of Slash, it's standard with Wolfgang's.......Reverse Zebra at the bridge and Zebra at the neck.

i have a set of pearly gates with the same reverse zebra bridge and zebra neck, also has nothing to do with slash, though i was a big fan back in the day

I've never tried the 78 neck. Can someone compare it to the 59 or Pearly Gates?

The 78 bridge was a little bright for me, but the neck might be good in any position...I don't know.

id assume the neck pup is brighter than the bridge, i find the bridge 78 a little thin/bright too. not bad, but id prefer a little more body. granted into a cranked amp, it sounded great as one would expect
