parallel axis trembucker ideas

I was just throwing around some pickup combo's in my head. How do you guys think a PAT-distortion bridge and a PAT-original neck would sound in a mahogany bodied guitar? After hearing the clips of them, I guess the big problem is that it could possibly get too thick and possibly muddy up a little. So I'd like to hear from you guys who have tried them in one. If there are no boo's from the audience I think I've probably sold myself on trying this setup down the road.

ive tried that setup in a mahogany body ibanez. it sounded meaty as hell, but not muddy. this was thru a 2204 marshall setup cranked up.
i think with the right amp settings you shouldnt worry too much.
is this a short scale guitar? does it have a trem?

Re: parallel axis trembucker ideas

I just got the PA Distortion, but it's in a strat, so I'm probably not much help. I'm still trying to dial it in just right. I'm pretty happy with it so far, though.

Yeah it would have a trem. One that I have my eye on now has a bolt on neck so that should give it slightly more spank and brightness than a neck through. This is all just my idea of getting a mahogany shredder to tweak out.

Could you tell an immediate difference, in terms of sustain and output? From what I've heard and read the thing has a lot of smooth bite to it if that makes any sense.

Re: parallel axis trembucker ideas

Yeah. Not so much with sustain as with output. It replaced the CC that went in my brother's frankenstrat, so of course there should be more output. I guess "smooth bite" might work for describing it. I'll have to play it again and keep that in mind.

I've also got it split, which I kind of like the sound of. It's not as nice as the CC was when split, though.
