Parallel humbucker coils, pickups in series?

Hello everyone,

I'm pretty new to working on guitars and I've been thinking about attempting to wire up a Les Paul similar to the way jimmy page does. I think I would rather use parallel coil humbuckers than split the pickups, but I'm not sure how that would affect putting the 2 pickups in series with each other. I tried searching google and this forum but where the terms "parallel", "coils", "humbuckers", and "series" come up together so often I wasn't able to find anything specifically addressing "parallel coil humbuckers, in series with eachother". Does any body have an experience or even an educated guess?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Connecting the two coils of a noise-cancelling pickup in parallel creates certain frequency cancellation effects.

Linking two pickups (with their respective coils connected in parallel to each other) in series is likely to result in a less coherent sound than simply linking one coil from each pickup.

If your main concern is noise-cancellation, the simplest solution is to arrange your wiring so that, in split mode, the two coils to be connected in series will cancel hum.

ArtieToo almost certainly has schematic diagrams illustrating how to achieve this. Try sending him a Private Message.
