parallel/out of phase

is it possible to wire the humbucker parallel/out of phase with on on togle swith i dont wont it to work as series.i must mention in the place i live there is not on,on,on, the available is (on, off ,on )or (on,on).

one of the easist with a DPDT switch-
THis has to be up on duncan site but easier just to draw-

(Do this for only 1 pup)

Sure..,but I wouldn't recommend that. The series and single coil tones are the best and strongest tones. I find the parallel tones to be almost useless.

As fast as I put the switch up there, i have to agree with lew- There is only one out of phase sound that I have ever found useful and it rarely involves humbuckers- Two medium output single coils in series and out of phase can be a truly wild sound- But ironicaly, the first time I ever saw this mod was on a PAF/tele lead and that's what sold me on the sound in the first place-

there is in the site a schematic for phasing but its a 2 swithes for 1 humbuker 1rst switch for parallel/series ,the second for phasing , in this case i must but 4 swithes ,2 for each humbucker ,i dont want to do that ,i need a switch for each humbucker (parallel/out of phase).

maybe i will take your sugession cause i comlatly lost ,i lost in determinding and i lost in the schematics,(series/parallel)for each humbucker without out of phase maybe better.

I would have said that "out of phase" tones are useless as you lose all the fundamental frequency and with it most of the output of the pickup.

A parallel combination givs you noise cancellation, a reduces impedance (different Q factor) and a brighter tone similar to a split coil but not as harsh.

I'd say far more useful to go series/parallel than in/out of phase.

Until recently I would have agreed.

Olin brought over his PRS to have two PG bridges installed in it. He likes his neck pu wired for series/parallel. I laughed at him until the installation was done and I heard him strum it like an acoustic on the neck pickup alone in parallel. Voila! -- a great faux acoustic tone came out and wiped that smirk right off my face...
